‘REVOLUTION’ A Feature Film Documentary

The cultural revolt of the Sixties and its continuing legacy

The exploration of the 1960s Cultural Revolution as it ushers in our contemporary society.

*****************

‘Revolution’ explores, through interviews with many of its key instigators, the ground breaking cultural and social transformation of the 1960s as we get to the root of what changed during that period, and why. To what extent is our society and culture today a product of those changes? What does the 60s generation feel remains to be done today to complete the revolution, 40 years on?

*****************

‘Revolution’ is a serious but entertaining investigation of the origins, phenomenon and long-term impact of this cultural shift. The documentary will serve as a legacy and historical document of the era from which future generations will gain a better understanding of the 1960s through first hand accounts by those that not only experienced it, but also helped to shape that amazing revolutionary era. Through interviews with many of its key innovators we will witness how they employed ground breaking new art a tool for changing the status quo.

*****************

Although exploring the early 1960s as background, the focus will be the mid 60s to late 60s and extending into the 1970s to give perspective and to explore the spreading of the cultural revolution into mainstream society. We will also look at how the 60s are viewed today and influence society today, even to the current celebrations of the 40th anniversary of “The Summer Of Love”.

To what extent is our society and culture today a product of those changes? Why do we continue to look back on the 60s as a ‘golden age’ or standard against which we measure the present? Is there something lacking in our current culture that causes us to look back? Can we take what was positive

‘Revolution’ will have wide appeal to the baby boom generation, who, as they enter their 60s, are looking back to the 1960s not only with nostalgia, but also for answers. It will also appeal to a younger audience who are rediscovering the music and idealism of that era.  This film is unique in its broad range of voices from that time, its efforts to make the 1960s relevant for society today and for exploring the underlying currents of that era rather than just being another overview. ‘Revolution’ will serve as a legacy and historical document of the era from which present and future generations will gain a better understanding of the 1960s through first hand accounts by those that not only experienced it, but also helped to shape that revolutionary era.
